Echizen washi paper, one of Japan's three major washi papers, is a traditional craft of Fukui Prefecture that has been around for about 1,500 years.
In the production areas, various types of washi paper that are suited to modern life are produced while preserving traditions and techniques.
Echizen washi paper is an environmentally friendly material because it does not contain fluorescent agents to whiten the paper or sizing agents to prevent bleeding.
