[THE BEATLES x Japanese Traditional Crafts] Official collaboration with The Beatles Size: Height 6cm, width 10cm, depth 4cm Weight: 100g *There is only one type of product, and the images show the front and back. Akabeko is a folk craft that was first created by Gamo Ujisato, the lord of the Aizu domain, about 400 years ago. It originates from the red cows that drove away the epidemic that was rampant during the Heian period, and the color red is believed to ward off disease. The black dots on Akabeko represent "hoso" (smallpox), and it is said that they were painted on Akabeko as a substitute to protect young children from smallpox, which was once a deadly disease. Akabeko's head shaking was a custom of the lower-ranking samurai of Aizu, who gave them as gifts in hopes that children would grow up healthy and strong. They are designed to shake their heads in order to soothe children. (C) 2024 Apple Corps Ltd. A Beatles (TM) Product
